Steve Allen
Partner, SalientPoint, LLC

Stephen Allen has provided communications consulting for more than 18 years, specializing in message development, media and public speaking coaching as well as confrontational debate preparation. Steve has coached spokespersons representing more than 90 ballot campaigns in 13 states on gaming, taxation, environmental and public health protection, nuclear energy, tort reform, mining, health care, stem cell research and policy, governmental reform as well as telecommunication and electricity deregulation issues.

In addition, Steve has counseled U.S. presidential and gubernatorial candidates, university leaders, coaches and professors, professional athletes, Fortune 500 Company executives, citizen’s groups, corporate marketing departments, non-profit organizations, and Indian tribal councils in preparation for television/radio interviews, debates, editorial board briefings and speeches.

With particular emphasis on making complex technical and business issues easy for the general public to understand, Steve has directed the preparation of white papers, testimony before the U.S. Congress, political and business speeches as well as op-eds and advertorials. Over the years, he has also been called upon by companies and organizations confronting a crisis situation to provide counsel in developing a response strategy and to provide on-the-fly coaching to those responsible for its implementation.

Increasingly, he is assisting clients with the preparation of PowerPoint presentations, “investor day” presentations as well as board of director briefing materials. His ability to quickly come up to speed on an issue and breakdown data provides a pathway for clients to deliver messages concisely and clearly through the “clutter” of the information age.

To all of his work, Steve brings first hand experience of several hundred radio and TV debates and interviews as a spokesperson for ballot issue campaigns and corporations. He has appeared in interviews and debates on NBC Nightly News, ABC World News Tonight, Nightline, CBS Evening News, CNN and MSNBC The News with Brian Williams as well as major TV and radio outlets in Massachusetts, New York, Arizona and New Mexico. During the unprecedented 2003 “electricity blackout”, Steve served as the spokesperson for the Northeast Power Coordinating Council and participated in hundreds of interviews.

A native of Boston, Massachusetts, Steve holds a BS degree from Virginia Military Institute and MS degrees from Tufts University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
