Achievements to Date
Americans for Cures Foundation is a nonpartisan 501(c)3 organization dedicated to national advocacy for stem cell research.
Since the passage of Proposition 71 on November 2, 2004, when 59% of Californians went to the polls to support the creation of the California Institute of Regenerative Medicine (CIRM), Americans for Cures Foundation has supported other statewide and national efforts to advance and protect stem cell research.
Americans for Cures Foundation (formerly known as Alliance for Stem Cell Research) is proud to list the following accomplishments:
- Supported the implementation of Proposition 71
- Co-hosted Best Practices Workshop with the National Academies of Science (2004)
- Hosted four Community Forums in California to facilitate communication between the people of California leadership (2005) and CIRM
- Mobilized patient advocates to support passage of Congressional bills, The Stem Cell Research Enhancement Acts (2005, 2007)
- Produced the series of videos "Spotlight on Disease" (2005 & 2006)
- Helped defeat a proposed international ban on somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT) technology (2005)
- Created a National Speaker Network (ongoing)
